ABOUT PROGRAM

International logistics and transportation has a growing importance in today’s global business environment and mainly covers the subjects of material flow and storage. However, a much broader framework is in place that plans, implements, and controls the efficient, effective forward and reverses flow and storage of goods, services and related information between the point of origin and the point of consumption in order to meet customers' requirements. For this reason, logistics and transportation are critical units for all other departments of the business, and this is an indication of the ever-increasing need for staff to work in the logistics and transport sector.

Students who graduated from our department are experts in supply chain management, have comprehensive knowledge of planning, implementing, and controlling the efficient, effective forward and reverses flow and storage of goods, services and related information, follows technological developments and current logistics and transport issues, and have sectoral information required by logistics and transportation fields, also they will have basic economic and business information as well.

MISSION

To expand and create academic studies in the field of International Logistics and Transportation with research, projects and publications, and to train graduates at the undergraduate/graduate level with theoretical and practical skills in cooperation with the business world.

 

DEGREE EARNED

The students who successfully complete the program earn the right to obtain a “Piri Reis University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences International Logistics and Transportation Diploma.”

 

LEVEL OF THE DEGREE EARNED

This is a program at the undergraduate level.

 

CONDITIONS FOR ACCEPTANCE OF REGISTRATION

Students who are graduates from highschool or equivalent institutions, upon their selection of one of our programs that accept students based on the TM-1 scores following the undergraduate placement examination and their placement to one of these programs by the Measuring, Selection and Placement Center can earn the right to study in Piri Reis University.The registration conditions for all departments are published in the guidelines of the Measuring, Selection and Placement Center.

 

RULES REGARDING THE REQUIREMENT OF THE EARNED DEGREE

The requirement of the degree earned and the rules are published in the Undergraduate Education and Examination regulations of Piri Reis University.

Students who successfully complete the program to which they are registered according to the regulations in these guidelines, and who did not get an FF or FD grade from any course, who has a GPA equal or greater than 2.00, who has earned the minimum amount of credits required by the program, completed the cultural development seminars and satisfied the internship requirements earn the right to receive a diploma.

 

DEFINITION OF PREVIOUS EDUCATION

Of students who register for the first year, those who had completed their education in any institution recognized as equivalent by The Council of Higher Education are required to apply for waving through a formal request for the courses that they have successfully completed at the previous institution, together with their transcripts and course content list at least one week beforehand to the relevant faculty.

 

PROGRAM DEFINITION

Students who graduated from our department are experts in supply chain management, have comprehensive knowledge of planning, implementing, and controlling the efficient, effective forward and reverses flow and storage of goods, services and related information, follows technological developments and current logistics and transport issues, and have sectoral information required by logistics and transportation fields, also they will have basic economic and business information as well. For this purpose, our program consists of 8 semesters in total. In order to graduate from the program, a total of 132 courses (240 ECTS credits) must be achieved. In the last year, students are obliged to complete two consecutive finishing projects.

 

PROGRAM QUALIFICATIONS (OUTPUTS)

  1. To have advanced knowledge in related fields of logistics and transportation.
  2. Able to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams or individually in national and international logistics and transportation areas both in theoretical and applied scope. 
  3. Able to identify, define, formulate and solve problems with theoretical and applied transportation and logistics knowledge.
  4. Able to communicate oral and written effectively with logistics and transportation stakeholders, and can use a foreign language minimum B1 level in European Language Portfolio.
  5. To have advanced competence on general, logistics, and transportation information technologies.
  6. To have knowledge about logistics and transportation principles, policies, and legislations.
  7. To have knowledge about corporate governance, legal framework, business practices and environmental effects with professional and ethical responsibility
  8. Able to access information by searching text, visual and digital resources, and be able to use this information for interpreting and analyzing data, identifying problems, and offering solutions.
  9. Able to use the theoretical and practical knowledge that learned from logistics and transportation companies with business management techniques.
  10. Able to develop the project in logistics and transportation area, and can take responsibility and act as coordinator or participant as an individual or group member in accordance with project goals.
