Course Description
|
This course is designed to improve your effectiveness as a manager and leader by introducing you to frameworks for understanding organizations and organizational processes. Organizations have been studied from the perspective of several social science disciplines, including psychology, sociology, economics, anthropology and political science. The field on which this course is based, management and organization, draws from management discipline and applies the insights derived from the pertinent research.
This course focuses on the principles and practice used in management and decision making in a business enterprise. Students explore management theory and practice through the contributions of the past and current experts. Students also study concepts and philosophies of planning, organization, controlling, and leadership and apply then to contemporary issues in management.

Course Objectives
|
To expose the student to the basic concepts of management in order to aid the student in understanding how an organization functions, and in understanding the complexity and wide variety of issues managers face in today’s business firms.

Course Learning Outcomes
|
By students who passed from UIT 211 successfully;
- Define and explain management, management theories and characteristics and the manager’s environment.
- Take an holistic approach to addressing issues facing an organization; understand and compensate for the effects of changes on all aspects of an organization
- Identify and clearly define a problem/issue; analyze and question data and information in a rigorous manner.
- Describe the decision making process and develop plans which use proper tools/methods to empower, inspire and hold accountable members of an organization
- Describe the creation of organizational design
- Define and explain leadership and motivational theories and concepts
