LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY CHAIN MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAM (NON-THESIS)

 

ABOUT PROGRAM

Companies and also countries make investment in logistics and supply chain for gain and sustain competitive advantage in the global environment. This discipline covers the process of planning and management of all activities involved in sourcing and procurement, conversion, and also coordination and collaboration with channel partners. Due to the complexity of this process, qualified experts, who have sufficient knowledge and skills, are increasingly needed every day.

Because of multidisciplinary nature of this program, social sciences and engineering sciences have equal weight and this program helps students to develop expert knowledge and skills, and analytical thinking in supply chain management.

Our graduate students can have career opportunities in logistics companies, national or international companies’ logistics and supply chain departments, foreign trade departments, various public institutions, and organizations, and also education sector.

DEGREE EARNED

The students who successfully complete the program earn the right to obtain a “Piri Reis University Institute of Social Sciences Graduate Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (Non-Thesis).”

 

LEVEL OF THE DEGREE EARNED

This program provides master degree level education.

 

CONDITIONS FOR ACCEPTANCE OF REGISTRATION

Those who graduate from any department of a higher education institution that provides 4 years of undergraduate education in Turkey or from an abroad higher education institution which has YOK accreditation may apply to this program.

Candidates who fulfill the application conditions will take a science exam and an interview. Candidate students will be listed and announced according to their undergraduate GPA, exam and interview grades.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND RULES OF THE DEGREE EARNED

The degree requirements and rules have been defined in Piri Reis University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations.

Students who successfully complete all the courses of the program in accordance with the provisions of this Regulation; who have no FF letter grade, who provide the minimum credit required by the program, who had a GPA above 2.80 and successfully defend the term project are entitled to receive a diploma.

 

DEFINITION OF PREVIOUS EDUCATION

In transfers from within or outside the university, students must satisfy the admission requirements of the program applied. All transfer applications are evaluated and concluded by the Institute Board and student admission committee. The rudiments of transfer applications are:

a)         The transfer can be made between equivalent programs.

b)         The minimum GPA required for transfer is determined by the Chair of the program.

c)         The student must have been taken courses from the program that he/she enrolled in at least one semester (excluding scientific preparation) and completed the semester successfully.

d)        It is determined by the decision of the Institute Board that which courses can be transferred.

 

PROGRAM DEFINITION

Graduate students who graduated from this program are experts in logistics and supply chain management, have comprehensive knowledge of planning, implementing, and controlling the efficient, effective forward and reverses flow and storage of goods, services, and related information, follows technological developments and current logistics and supply chain issues, and have sectoral information required by logistics and transportation fields. For this purpose, our program consists of 3 semesters in total. In order to graduate from the program, a total of 10 courses of 30 credits (90 ECTS credits) must be achieved. In the last year, students are obliged to complete finishing projects.

 

PROGRAM QUALIFICATIONS (OUTPUTS)

  1. Can understand and use the basic knowledge and existing theories about logistics and supply chain management (logistics systems design and planning, purchasing, manufacturing, inventory management, strategic alliances, risk management, performance measurement etc.)
  2. Can develop logistics and supply chain strategies by using the appropriate theories, tools, and methods, and can make decisions about logistics system designs which support the enterprise's mission and objectives.
  3. Can evaluate situations in supply chain management and determine what problems in the system and analyze problems and risks.
  4. Can generate innovative solutions current developments in problems of supply chain management and applications and can make recommendations for improving performance
  5. Do know general concept and practice of the basic administration science such as economics, accounting, human resource management, international trade and integrate this knowledge for designing logistics and supply chain systems.
  6. Can use software and applications for either conducting data or analyzing data and systems are using in the field of logistics management
