Course Description

The purpose of this course is to study the theories and practices of information systems. Students will analyze the essential characteristics of organizational rules, business processes, and enterprise related information systems and technologies.

 

Course Objectives

 

1. To provide the students with the basic information necessary for the design and use of up-to-date information technologies and systems, taking into account the managerial, organizational and strategic elements to meet the information needs of the enterprises.
2. Prepare students for the basic concepts of information systems they will encounter in their own programs.

By students who passed from Introduction to Management Information Systems YBS122 successfully

  1.                Explain how information systems are transforming business and describe academic disciplines used to study information systems
  2. Explain IT infrastructure and its components and Describe the principal components of telecommunications networks and key networking technologies.
  3. Describe how enterprise systems help businesses achieve operational excellence and coordinate business processes.
  4. Explain what the principal methodologies are for modeling and designing systems and describe the objectives of project management and why it is so essential in developing information systems
  5. Explain the principal tools and technologies for accessing information from databases to improve business performance and decision making and how do information systems support the activities of managers and management decision making
