ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The globalizing and increasingly complicating business world can make individuals' level of knowledge inadequate and require updating both on an institutional and an individual basis. Moreover, the importance of "lifelong education", which is required by the information age and also mentioned in the Bologna process, increases the desire of employees to get a graduate degree.

The diploma to be awarded from this program will be a demonstration of the most important requirements of today's competitive world, such as strategic thinking and planning, as well as a high level of knowledge and a high level of administrative competence on contemporary management and business. In terms of professionalism, it provides the necessary skills to acquire additional administrative responsibilities in the business world. It is acknowledged that one of the most important factors determining the line between success and failure in today's competitive world could be the knowledge and experience gained with this graduate education.

Recent researches show that education in Master of Business Administration (MBA) program have contributed significantly to the experience gained through group studies, decision-making and analytical thinking skills. It is stated that at least 50% of the knowledge and experience earned as a result of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) education is gained by these group studies. These activities within the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program enable the development of general management-business skills and competencies and the acquisition of self-confidence.

DEGREE EARNED

Students who have successfully completed the program are entitled to receive " PRU Institute of Social Sciences Diploma of Master of Business Administration (non-thesis)".

 

THE LEVEL OF THE DEGREE EARNED

 This program provides master degree level education.

 

ENROLLMENT CONDITIONS

Those who graduate from any department of a higher education institution that provides 4 years of undergraduate education in Turkey or from an abroad higher education institution which has YOK accreditation may apply to this program.

Candidates who fulfill the application conditions will take a science exam and an interview. Candidate students will be listed and announced according to their  undergraduate GPA, exam and interview grades.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND RULES OF THE DEGREE EARNED

The degree requirements and rules have been defined in Piri Reis University Graduate Education and Examination Regulations.

Students who successfully complete all the courses of the program in accordance with the provisions of this Regulation; who have no FF letter grade, who provide the minimum credit required by the program, who had a GPA above 2.80 and successfully defend the term project are entitled to receive a diploma.

 

DEFINITION OF PREVIOUS EDUCATION

In transfers from within or outside the university, students must satisfy the admission requirements of the program applied. All transfer applications are evaluated and concluded by the Institute Board and student admission committee. The rudiments of transfer applications are:

a)         The transfer can be made between equivalent programs.

b)         The minimum GPA required for transfer is determined by the Chair of the program.

c)         The student must have been taken courses from the program that he/she enrolled in at least one semester (excluding scientific preparation) and completed the semester successfully.

d)        It is determined by the decision of the Institute Board that which courses can be transferred.

 

PROGRAM DEFINITION

In general terms, Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs are for the managers who think strategically and need to work. Students attending MBA programs usually aim to play a role within the general administrative structures of the companies, but it should not be forgotten that there may be a need for certain aspects and preliminary information about any particular subject. Providing this required knowledge, MBA education is a precondition for some companies to work at higher positions. The chance of graduates to acquire and evaluate the right opportunities, will be even greater with the skills and experiences obtained from this program.

The "Master of Business Administration (MBA) Non Thesis Program" is designed to provide the future management candidates with a high level of knowledge on contemporary management, administrative competence and a special perspective on issues to be encountered in organizations. To this end, the program has been designed in a way that consists of courses from three main disciplines: economics, business and finance.

The aim of the program is to;

•          meet the demand especially coming from the fields of transportation, maritime, engineering and university graduates,

•          provide the necessary skills for the candidates to receive additional administrative responsibilities in the institutions they are affiliated with,

•          carry the knowledge and experience gained from group work and activities in the program to a high level of competency in the business management skills of the candidate.

  1. Has the contemporary and up-to-date information about the field of business that can be used in professional life and has theoretical knowledge applicable in the literature.
  2. Comprehends the strategic, tactical and operational dimensions of business management.
  3. Can make predictions about the field and be innovative.
  4. Can transform the theoretical knowledge obtained into conceptual and cognitive knowledge; with this knowledge has the ability to independently perform and execute a business in the chosen career field.
  5. Has the ability to collect, interpret and analyze data that is related to the conceptual and cognitive knowledge developed in conjunction with the specialization and has the ability to use this information to execute and direct the projects and activities related to the field.
  6. Has the ability to monitor business practices and technological innovations and adapt them to managerial problems.
  7. Can take responsibility in projects and work related to the field, show leadership behavior and suggest solutions.
  8. Has interpersonal and teamwork competencies.
  9. Has the ability to evaluate and use strategies that may be effective in the negotiation process.
  10. Is aware of the importance of rapid change and lifelong learning.
  11. Has professional ethics and responsibility in the collection, interpretation, implementation and announcement of results related to the field.
  12. Can use and manage Microsoft Office software programs related to the area, use information and communication technologies.
  13. Has effective verbal and written communication related to the field.
