ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Department of Maritime Business and Management is in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. The development of the business science and maritime industry has also required such a multi-disciplinary work within the faculty of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences. As a result, there was a need for an area that was created on the basis of business knowledge and allowed to specialize in the direction of maritime businesses.

Foundation business management; Which is structured to include ship, port, marina and coastal facilities, onshore maritime businesses, international maritime organizations and similar business administrations focused on maritime business; While the first two years overlap with the classical management departments, the last two years have been devoted to mainly maritime business.

The proposed program is tangible to meet a very important requirement from a conjectural point of view. Today, around 500 gross tons of seas and 104,000 ships are circulating the world and at least 1 million university graduates are employed in the ships themselves. On the other hand, many more university graduates who are involved in the operation and services of these vessels are still working on land. Therefore, in terms of maritime economy and management, an important job creation and management of the enterprise in the future is required in this case in the enterprises which are in the right of maritime. While providing services for forwarders, brokers, port operators, warehouse services and gyms both at sea and at sea requires both maritime and economic knowledge, the sector also requires a basic level of maritime knowledge. Also in the academic world, the demand and tendency in this direction is noteworthy. The need for professional, competent and educated leaders in the sector is also increasing. Ports and marinas, maritime marketing and advertising expertise positions, insurance, P & I Clubs, Lloyds, specialized financial institutions in maritime, maritime assets, maritime transport, maritime transport, maritime transport, maritime transport services, forwarders and brokers serving these companies, , Specialized companies in the valuation of facilities and ships, shipbuilding and subsidiary industries and marine tourism companies.

AIM OF THE PROGRAM

The aim of Maritime Business Administration Undergraduate Program; Is to educate contemporary maritime operators who are equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitudes that can work in maritime transportation business and management all over the world, who are expert in maritime and logistics areas, who are not absorbed in ethical values, aware of world facts and embrace importance of lifelong learning. The shipping operator arranges the management plan for the most efficient use of money, materials and human power and the profitable operation of the ships in the operation it operates, supervises the works and provides the connection and organization of the cargo and passenger movements of the vessels.

The program will be in intensive business alliance with the other two programs within the faculty. "International Business and Trade" and "Economics and Finance" sections of the course in terms of terms, especially in the first four semesters in a certain degree of parallelism. However, compulsory and elective courses offered in the following semesters and academic orientation for the department specialization field are provided.

MISSION

Nowadays, as economic and commercial developments show, decision makers and rule makers have to have comprehensive knowledge about the dynamics of international business and trade areas. Many of the sub-elements of the complex structure that shape the business life have evolved parallel to technological developments and have become more decisive in information technology, supply chain and logistics processes in an advanced and increasingly competitive environment. In addition to this general structure, it is also clear that the integration of firms into production, service, sales and distribution channels in micro sense has a critical impetus in terms of competition and global marketing penetration. The necessity for the theoretical and practical knowledge to be handled together with the needs of these building stones, which constitute their understanding of business and interaction, has become evident. The co-development of the sub-units that will make this point to the position where the program will be positioned.

The program is constantly evolving for a more effective and modern education with its expert and dynamic teaching staff and the ability to incorporate both education understanding and world class changes in the content of education in accordance with departmental features, curriculum and education structure.
The department has the capacity to provide training, project and consultancy support in all aspects of the maritime sector. The program aims to increase knowledge and experience by supporting exchange of students and academicians through bilateral agreements with internationally respected quality institutions
In this context, training graduates with the above mentioned elements will be at the point where they can also respond to the demands of the current professional business life. We aim to have individuals who have finished this section have the following characteristics.

  • Individuals who are qualified to apply their theoretical knowledge to sectoral practices.

  • The basic courses given in the department are as follows. Basic Business Management, Law, Maritime Business, Logistics, Transportation, Mathematics, Statistics, Law, Computer etc. Lessons are given in the field. English is taught because the work is international.

DEGREE EARNED

Students who have successfully completed the program are entitled to receive "Bachelor's Degree in Naval Business Administration Degree" at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.

This is a program that teaches English at the undergraduate level.

CONDITIONS FOR ACCEPTANCE OF REGISTRATION

Students are entitled to study at our university in case they choose programs that are based on the MF-4 score of the Undergraduate Placement Exam (LYS) organized by the Program Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) and they are placed by OSYM in any of these programs. The registration conditions of all the faculties are published in the OSYM Manual.

NECESSARY TERMS TO BE GRADUATED BY PROGRAM

The program consists of 8 semesters in total. To graduate from the program, a total of 133 credits (266 ECTS credits) must be achieved. In the last two semesters, students are required to complete two consecutive finishing projects. In addition, students have a part-time workplace internship requirement in the 6th semester. Students who have completed all the courses in this degree program and completed 20 semesters of compulsory harbor management and maritime business internship and finishing projects, are awarded to students with a GPA of at least 2.00 / 4.00. http://www.pru.edu.tr

GRADUATE WORK PROFILE

Those who have completed marine management and management program are given the title of "Maritime Business Operator". The program graduates are employed in the relevant organizations of both private and public sector related to Maritime, Transport, Logistics and Foreign Trade. In the private sector; Shipbuilding operations, maritime insurance operations, ports and terminals, yacht and marina operations, shipyards, banks, foreign trade operations, shipbuilding operations, shipbuilding operations, shipbuilding operations (ship agencies, ship brokers, transport contractors) They can work as middle and top level managers in institutions such as logistics companies. Candidates who graduate from the program will be equipped with sectoral information as required by the maritime business, while possessing the basic business and economic information that the business community is particularly looking for. In this sense, they will not only be limited to maritime but they will also be candidates for being a very comfortable manager in any kind of business. The maritime business operator manages the operation of the vessel in order to use money, materials and human power in the most efficient manner and to operate the vessels in a profitable manner; Supervises the work, takes measures to increase the loads and passengers of the vessels to full capacity; Provide connection and organization of ship, cargo, passenger movements depending on the operation it is operating.
