ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Primarily opened programs in Piri Reis University Institute of Science and Technology are Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering Masters and Doctorate programs. The objectives of these programs are;

  • Providing lecturers to the maritime institutes and meet the deficit on the institutes.
  • Providing the opportunity of improving staying up to date and keeping up with the current Technologies in maritime industry to the professionals working in maritime line of business via doctorate and master programs.

Graduates may also work on maritime industry’s brokering, supply, insurance human resources, and port management branches.

Also, it is AIMED to be an EXAMPLE on contributive actions on humanity, developing international and national projects, applying the most modern education programs and supporting of these programs by social, cultural and human sciences programs.

DEGREE

Students that successfully completing this program are entitled to get ‘’ PRU Maritime Faulty Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering Master’s Degree Diploma’’

 

EDUCATION LEVEL

In this program masters level education is given.

Only the students graduated from below programs are accepted.

  • Civil Engineering (Transportation)
  • Naval Academy

  • Industrial Engineering

(It is necessary to provide a sea service certificate as an oceangoing chief officer or oceangoing second engineer for students graduated from other programs than above mentioned.)

The education language in this program is English.

 

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS AND RULES

Degree requirements and rules have been published on Piri Reis University Higher Education Regulations.

Students who successfully pass all the courses and complete their thesis of their program according to the regulation mentioned above are entitled to get their diploma.

 

COMPLETION OF PREVIOUS EDUCATION

Those who have enrolled in the first semester and have graduated from any higher education institution previously accepted by YÖK are required to submit a notarized certificate and course content at least one week before the registration renewal week for the lessons they have taken at that higher education institution for course exemption. Those who are granted an exemption by the institute board of directors for equivalent of courses and credits they had taken may enroll to the appropriate courses according to the rules for he the total credit load they are exempted from the next year.

  1. Developing and intensifying knowledge in the related program’s area, based upon the competency in the undergraduate level (sufficient knowledge) (knowledge).
  2. Grasping the inter-disciplinary interaction related to one’s area (knowledge).
  3. The ability to use the expert-level theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the area (skill).
  4. Interpreting and forming new types of knowledge by combining the knowledge from the area and the knowledge from various other disciplines (skill).
  5. Solving the problems faced in the area by making use of the research methods (skill).
  6. The ability to carry out a specialist study related to one’s area independently. (Competence to work independently and take responsibility).
  7. Developing new strategic approaches to solve the unforeseen and complex problems arising in the practical processes of one’s area and coming up with solutions while taking responsibility (Competence to work independently and take responsibility).
  8. Fulfilling the leader role in the environments where solutions are sought for the problems related to the area (Competence to work independently and take responsibility).
  9. Assessing the specialist knowledge and skill gained through the study with a critical view and directing one’s own learning process (Learning Competence).
  10. Systematically transferring the current developments in the area and one’s own work to other groups in and out of the area; in written, oral and visual forms (Communication and Social Competency).
  11. Ability to see and develop social relationships and the norms directing these relationships with a critical look and the ability to take action to change these when necessary. (Communication and Social Competency).
  12. Using the computer software together with the information and communication Technologies efficiently and according to the needs of the area (Communication and Social Competency).
  13. Paying regard to social, scientific, cultural and ethical values during the collecting, interpreting, practicing and announcing processes of the area related data and the ability to teach these values to others (Area Specific Competency).
  14. Developing strategy, policy and application plans concerning the subjects related to the area and the ability to evaluate the end results of these plans within the frame of quality processes (Area Specific Competency).
  15. Using the knowledge and the skills for problem solving and/or application (which are processed within the area) in inter-disciplinary studies (Area Specific Competency).
  16. In the programs with thesis, the ability to present one’s own work within the international environments orally, visually and in written forms (Area Specific Competency).
