Istanbul has been a capital city for many nations in history. Istanbul the most populated city in Turkey and in Europe is located partly on the Asian and partly on the European continents. As living conditions are high in the area, migration to the city is the highest compared to other cities in Turkey.

As Istanbul has hosted many nations in history and has been situated on important trade locations for centuries, it embodies strong cultural accumulation and historical works of art. The many museums, palaces, city walls, and fortresses contribute to Istanbul's tourism. Local and international tourists from Turkey and around the world visiting the city throughout the year provide a substantial tourism income.

The sources of income of the city include industrial, trade, transportation and tourism. Many universities within the city also makes it a centre for culture and science. There are numerous universities both private and state. The Bosphorous Bridge, the Maiden Tower, The Galata Tower, The Topkapi Palace, The Sunken Palace are a must to see places in the city.

Tuzla is the southernmost suburb of the city of Istanbul. It is one of the moderately populated districts of Turkey. In addition the biggest shipyard district in Turkey is in Tuzla.

In the year 1400 with Sultan Yıldırım Bayezid, Tuzla became a part of the Ottoman Empire. Greeks who lived in Tuzla, within the framework of the Lausanne Agreement, Lozan Antlaşması have exchanged places with the Turks from Selanik, Kavala and Drama.

Until the end of the 1980s  fishing and farming were practiced in Tuzla, however, with the industrial developments, farming lost its importance. Today Tuzla also houses shipyards.

Tuzla is under the influence of the Marmara Region Climate conditions. It has hot and dry summers, warm and wet winters. The annual average temperature is 15 °C. In the winter tempertures can fall to minus degrees however, this is not very frequent. Spring and Autumn months are wet and from April onwards temperatures rise noticeably. According to temperature measurements taken since 1975 the average winter temperature is between 6,4 °C-8,5 °C and the average summer temperature is between 22 °C-24,3 °C.

Transportation in Tuzla is provided via land, rail and sea. Public IETT and Private Buses run from Tuzla to Kadıköy and Bostancı
