Maritime and Port Management Programme

Maritime and Port Management Program is delivered as being part of the Department of Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies Programs of PU-Piri Reis University at Tuzla / Istanbul Green Campus’ facilities.

Students who are accepted in accordance to the principles stated in YÖK (HEC)’s Official Guide Booklet titled “Transition without Examination from Secondary Vocational and Technical Schools to Associate’s Degree Programs of Higher Degree Vocational Institutions ” and the ones registered on the basis of the Student Selection and Placement Examination of YGS-6 exam’s score are all accepted for English Language Prep. School for a period of a year and continue to two years of “PU- Maritime Higher Vocational School” curriculum. Upon completion they will be honored with Associate’s Degree Diploma in Maritime and Port Management. Students are required to wear uniforms.

Maritime and Port Management curriculum basically aims to prepare the students to the duties of shipping companies, ports and terminals, ship brokering, ship agency services and then marine insurance companies. Graduates will also be able to possess a certificate of competency of Restricted Officer of the Watch which in fact enables the graduates to work as deck officer/master vessels being less than 500 GT within the port zones.

Academic education consists of four semesters. Students are primarily to be specialized in mathematics, physics, chemistry, business and then in navigation principles, cargo operations and ship/port management. Once the programs are successfully completed Associate’s Degree Diploma in Maritime and Port Management will then be provided to the students. Graduates become Restricted Watchkeeping Officer.

The students, who demonstrate the necessary educational achievement, will be able via Vertical Transfer Examination to enrol and graduate from a four-year Bachelor programmes such as Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering, Maritime Business Administration, Business Administration, Logistics Management, International Trade.

The curriculum is fully compatible with the STCW 2010.
