Course Description

Economic reasoning; basic concepts and processes in microeconomics and macro economics; identification and discussion of current economic issues with a view towards applications in maritime economics.

 

Course Objectives

 

1, Introduce basic economic concepts.

2. Improve critical thinking and problem solving skills in economics..

3. To give students a familiarity with main features of the national and international economy in general and maritime economy in particular, as well as the economic issues of the day.

 

Course Learning Outcomes

 

  1. Know  the language and terminology used in economics
  2. Understanding  discussions of economic problems and issues in the popular  and business media.
  3. Use simple economic models to analyze events, policy problems and business strategy.
  4. Discuss the main economic issues of the day and understand the role of the main economic institutions in those issues.
