Course Description

With this course content ,the participants will be able to know the respective terminologies for the marine engineering complements related to main propulsion machienery ( steam engines & turbines; diesel engines; the fuel system; lubrication cooling the engine and auxiliary engines; shafting and propellers ).The contents  enable also the cadets to gain proficiency in using technical manuals, following technical instructions and comprehending procedural documents in English

 

Course Objectives

 

Students who successfully pass this course will acquire knowledge and skills required for reading, understanding and using technical and administrative documentation in English for their on board activities and main engine room with all its structural elements and auixiliary components.

 

Course Learning Outcomes

 

In English, he or she:

1. Reads and understands engine manuals for gathering information.

2. Reads and follows instructions for operating machinery.

3. Reads and comprehends procedural documents.

4. Gains terminology related to the maintenance and tests procedures.

5. Prepares and uses check-lists for the respective machinery systems’ components
