Course Description

The purpose of this course is to study the theories and practices of information systems. Students will analyze the essential characteristics of organizational rules, business processes, and enterprise related information systems and technologies.

The undergraduate thesis project within the field of MIS is an individual study that must include testing or developing a software package that will substantiate new approach.

The undergraduate thesis project includes search, studies and summary of scientific literature, practical work in close relation to ongoing MIS research, compilation and critical analysis of the results, and oral and written presentation.

The undergraduate thesis project is mastered under individual supervision. The supervision includes how to perform a scientific study and how to orally and in writing present gathered data in good scientific manner. The student must have documented scientific experience.

A continuous evaluation of the course design is ongoing and may result in some changes in the structure and to some degree content of the course.

Course Objectives

1. To provide the students basic knowledge on how to pursue scientic fact. Show basic knowledge on planning and performance of a scientific work.
2. Show basic knowledge on how to present scientific work.
3.Theoretical and practical professional specialization within a MIS discipline including understanding of the current research questions.

Course Learning Outcomes

By students who passed from this course successfully

  1. Be able to search scientific literature and  to summaries scientific literature
  2. Be able to complete a MIS project from start to end with documentations
  3. Be able to present scientific data and conclusions in written and oral form addressed to different groups.

Homework & Projects

Students will be required to research the topic assigned, and to follow the development of the course content and to prepare for the presentation.

The undergraduate thesis project should be presented in an individually written paper that forms the basis for examination.

The thesis is a 15,000 word (approx. 40 page) research paper on a topic chosen by the student  in  consultation  with  a  thesis  supervisor.  The  thesis  should  contain  appropriate footnotes  and  bibliography,  and  in  general  conform  to  the  specifications  of  the  APA (American Political Science Association) style manual. The template will be shared.

Assessment criteria for the written report (final):

-Compliance with the thesis word template

-Using APA referencing, and correctness of the resources

-Completeness of the project, should be working.

-Documentation: ( Plan, Analysis, Test, Manual)

-Clarity and understandability of the text.

-Using github (if it is a development project)

Once chosen, the thesis topic may be further developed and refined over the meetings in consultation with the supervisor.  Students  are  expected  to  hold  regular  meetings  with  their  supervisor  as  their attendance.

It should be presented orally  at a seminar in the presence of experts. The student should also write a summary of the project as an article.

Laboratory Work

-

Computer Use

Students will use computers for project preparation

Other Activities

In case of plagiarism and cheating, university legislation is applied.

Turnitin Plagiarism Similarity accepted ratio will be <%15

Assignments must be submitted on the delivery date in accordance with the announced format.

The student who does not attend the final (presentation) must bring the doctor's report or inform the excuse by an e-mail. It is at the discretion of the instructor to make a make-up exam with the exception of the report status.

Success Requirements: Students must attend the regular meetings, and if there is an excuse, they email it at the appropriate time.
