Course Description

This course requires students to involve/initiate a social responsibility project which is approved by the instructor of the course (educating children, repairing schools, planting trees etc.) Mostly students are expected to work together with NGOs, charities and municipalities. Students are expected to engage in field works/services for at least 20 hours, prepare  mid-report and final report; and at the end of the term present their project and experiences to the class.

Course Objectives

  • To provide students with the opportunity to participate in NGOs or municipalities as active citizens and to conduct voluntary work based on rights and to develop social responsibility awareness
  • Providing social contribution through implemented projects
  • Encouraging students to acquire experience in meeting and working with individuals and groups from different socio-economic environments
  • Strengthening the ties of students with NGOs

 

Course Learning Outcomes

 

  1. Identify a need or problem that students have observed in the field of health, education or environment
  2. Planning field works in coordination with related charities, associations or local authorities
  3. Apply the activities in line with the specified timetable
  4. Developing reporting and presentation skills for real time projects
