Course Description
|
This course provides students with theoretical concepts, applications, the newest technology concepts, a variety of tools and processes, and practical insights to help them understand how to successfully manage projects in a wide variety of industries including software development, information technology, construction, government, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and R&D. Course content includes basic project management terminology, the differences of projects from other routine processes, project steps, information areas within the framework of initiation, planning, implementation, monitoring, control and closing processes

Course Objectives
|
In business life, many projects are failing due to different reasons. To achieve success in this field, awareness and using scientific methods are inevitable. It is aimed to gain the necessary knowledge and sufficiency at the level that will be included in the student projects by transferring in the framework of methodologies how these projects should be handled through. In this context; basic project management terminology, differences of projects from other routine tasks, and project management knowledge areas will be examined. Students will gain competency in the management of their projects using MS Project at various stages.

Course Learning Outcomes

By students who passed from Project Management UIT305 successfully
- Understand what a project is, provide examples of projects, and understand different types of projects pertaining to various industries, classify projects. Define authority, reliability, responsibility, and accountability in projects and work with the project management office, and understand how they function. Understand individuals and project team roles and build project teams
- Define project process and how organizations benefit from adopting those processes oriented toward customer satisfaction. Understand PMBOK® project management processes
- Select projects and set priorities, write a project charter, select a project manager and project team, identify stakeholders and conduct stakeholder analysis, gather requirements for a project, prepare and write a project scope. Manage the planning process of a project, understand the work breakdown structure (WBS) of a project, contracts and procurement management
- Identify and determine quantitative or qualitative value of project risks and prioritize them. Propose plans to mitigate such risks. Manage project quality as seen by quality gurus and determine how performance in projects are measured. Implement a project audit process, close projects and implement a post-implementation process. Discuss success variables for customers, organizations, the project manager, and the project team
- Schedule and construct project networks, identify slack in projects. Use computer software. Plan and allocate resources in a project, estimate costs and how to budget.

And also, they will present a project about “Project management tools” in the end of the semester.
