Course Description
|
In this introductory course you will explore the elements of integrated business logistics and the role and application of logistics principles to supply/demand/value chain management. Logistics and the closely related concept of supply chain management (SCM) underpin business or corporate strategy as far as the latter sets company objectives in sales, market share, share price, returns on shareholder funds, investment and assets.
The course also covers key activities related to logistics and supply chain management, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, customer service, and purchasing.

Course Objectives
|
- Understand the importance of supply chain management and its core pillars (i.e., logistics, purchasing and operations management) in the formation of business strategy
- Build foundational knowledge in supply chain management and the broad base of tools needed to analyze and improve supply chain processes
- Appreciate the power of supply chain management to contribute to a firm’s overall competitive advantage while understanding the key supply chain issues and implications

Course Learning Outcomes

By students who passed from ULT 122 successfully;
- To gain an understanding in the structure, principles, philosophy and the importance of supply chain management
- To apply key logistics and supply chain management concepts, theories, and strategies to other functional areas of a business organization.
- To learn the importance of sustainability in supply chain, and to learn how to realize in a certain product’s supply chain.
- To plan and control a certain supply chain by theories and practices that learned in the course
- To gain an understanding of the tools and techniques useful in implementing supply chain management in its functional areas.
- To use common softwares and applications are using in the field of logistics and supply chain
