Course Description

Introduction. Distribution of projects and selection of groups. Determination of main dimensions. Hull form design. GA Plan. Weight Calculation. Stability Analysis. Resistance & Power & Range Calculations. Technical Specification Document.

 

Course Objectives

 

1.  To provide students with knowledge and skills required for completing the conceptual design of a conventional ship.

2.  To enable students into blending their knowledge and skills from various courses into creating a complete design.

3. To engage students into cooperation and group work.

Course Learning Outcomes

Students who successfully complete the course will acquire the fundamental skills listed below as a basis for completing their Design Projects.

  1.     To create a conceptual ship design given the owners requirements
  2. To ensure that their conceptual design meets international standards.
  3. To engage in teamwork for complicated tasks.
  4. To enchance their experience in project planning. And meeting deadlines.
