Course Description

This course discusses the various manufacturing processes including machining forming, welding and casting. Structure of metals and mechanical behavior of materials will be discussed.

 

Course Objectives

 

Students learn basic principles of manufacturing processes. They gain the understanding of the breadth and depth of the field of manufacturing. The students recognize the strong interrelationships between material properties and manufacturing processes.

 

Course Learning Outcomes

 

  1. Understand principles of manufacturing processes.
  2. Understand and demonstrate the ability of material selection for manufacturing
  3. Learn and apply basic terminology for manufacturing
  4. Become familiar with some basic metal cutting, forming, welding and casting processes
