Course Description
|
This course develops knowledge of the International Maritime Conventions including their fundamental annexes and/or appendices as well as pertinent “codes” and “guidance” relating to standards and safety of ship including passenger, crew, cargo and environment.
|
Course Objectives
|
To introduce students comprehensive and contemporary knowledge on; international maritime conventions, protocols, amendments, recommendations, resolutions, codes and guidelines particularly on marine environmental protection and safety of passengers, crew and cargo. This course will also encompass the national equivalent applications within the same scope.

Course Learning Outcomes
|
I. Comprehension of Major International Maritime Conventions, International Maritime Codes, recommendations, protocols and other forms of guiding documents with a particular view to marine engineering duties, safety, security and environmental protection.
II. Comprehension of National Authority’s organization, its related institutions and tools with respect to International Maritime Law and İnternational Conventions.
III. Learning sources of general standards, procedures and rules on board as required by international conventions.
IV. To be able to understand the effects of maritime conventions on chartering contracts
