Course Description

Foundations of chemistry, solutions and solubility,acid and bases, chemical reactions, gases, electrochemistry, batteries, corrosion and corrosion control, physical and chemical properties of sea water, water hardness, marine paints, fuels and lubricants, combustion reactions

 

Course Objectives

 

To have the conceptual knowledge of possible chemical events in ship depending on the conditions and also to conceive and apply the daily test are necessary during the navigation

  1. Chemical  equations and their solution methods
  2. Concepts of  Solutions-solubility and Acids-bases
  3. Concept of corrosion  and corrosion control,
  4. Chemical properties of sea water
  5. To recognize of marine paints, fuels and lubricants
  6. To solve the problems which may occur in the ship and also to apply the necessary routine test and evaluate them
