Course Objectives

 

to teach definition, concepts and principles of Public Law, Private Law and Maritime Law.

 

Course Learning Outcomes

 

Students who successfully pass this lesson will receive the following knowledge and skills:

   Regarding to Basic Law;

I. Define the law and know some related basic concepts

II. Know the fields of law and legal systems and explain the basic principles.

III. Explain the sources of law and views on the basis of law.

IV. Explain enforcement and sanctions of international law, national law.

   Regarding Maritime Law;

V. Define and classify maritime law, explain the basic principles of international maritime law.

VI. Know the structure and sources of the national maritime legislation.

VII. Describe definition, types, criterions and register of ship.

VIII. Describe the documents and records to be kept on board.

IX. Define the affreighter, know his rights and liabilities.

X. Define the Master, explain his authority and responsibilities, know the rights and duties of seafarers according to the Maritime Labor Law

XI. Define the avaria, collision and salvage together with their elements regarding marine accidents, know their types and explain legal responsibility/civil liabilities.
