Course Description

To educate students as a deck officer and ultimately as a captain of the merchant vessel,  on the subjects of  ;

Atmosphere, temperature and heat, cloud formation, visibility, precipitation, fog, atmospheric pressure, winds, fronts, cyclones and anticyclones, weather forecasting, sea and swell, route planning, currents, climate and climate change

 

Course Objectives

 

 To create a  cadet / seaman with the ability of ;

 I. Understanding the atmospheric events happening in our  environment.

 II. Using meteorological factors in favor of safe navigation

 

Course Learning Outcomes

 

The students who successfully complete this course;

 I.    Can observe weather/sea conditions

 II.Can forecast the weather condition and its duration

 III.  Can use meteorological instruments

 IV.   Can make weather forecast

 V. Can get the ability of knowing sea/current conditions and safely handle ships.
